What is Testosterone

Testosterone is what makes a Man a Man.

Testosterone is a hormone made by the body. It is the principal androgen, or male sex hormone, although it appears in both genders. Most of the testosterone in a man’s body is produced in the testicles, and it is derived from cholesterol. In men, testosterone plays a key role in the development of male reproductive tissues such as the testis and prostate as well as promoting secondary sexual characteristics. In addition, testosterone is essential for health and well-being as well as the prevention of osteoporosis. It also helps:

  • Increase muscle mass and strength
  • Maintain bone strength
  • Stimulate sperm production
  • Maintain reproductive tissues
  • Stimulate and maintain sexual function
  • Maintain normal mood patterns
