Once again adequate healthy fat intake is required for optimal testosterone production. Another popular fat source is cooking oils. But not only are there a ton of brands, there are also a wide variety of oils to choose from. Time to take a closer look ….

Monounsaturated fats are highly beneficial to testosterone production. Therefore you want to choose an oil with the highest amount of monounsaturated fat, and the lowest amount of polyunsaturated fat. Monounsaturated fats can help reduce bad cholesterol levels in your blood and lower your risk of heart disease and stroke. They also provide nutrients to help develop and maintain your body’s cells

First we will start with Canola Oil. Per serving (1 Tbsp / 14 g) is has 1 gram of saturated fat, 9 grams of monounsaturated fat, and 4 grams of polyunsaturated fat. These numbers put it in high standing. Plus as a side note, some studies has shown that canola oil improves erection quality. Just sayin.

Corn Oil was next on the list. This one didn’t fair so well. Noting really special to say about corn oil and the numbers weren’t good at all. 1 serving yields 2 grams saturated fat, only 4 grams monounsaturated fat, and a big 8 grams of polyunsaturated fat. Poly > mono here so corn oil is a no go.

Vegetable Oil was the next contestant. To keep things short and sweet, it yielded the same numbers as corn oil. So dump the vegetable oil as well. We do NOT want Polys > Monos.

Peanut Oil made a rebound and once again brought us back to a positive ratio of Mono > Poly. Per serving it yielded 2.5 grams of saturated fat, 7 grams of monounsaturated fat, and 4 grams of polyunsaturated fat. Not as good as Canola, but much better than vegetable and corn. Peanut Oil has a unique taste as well. As do all the oils, but if the oil is bad for you, who cares about the taste (vegetable and corn).

Last but certainly not least is Olive Oil, and I am not talking about the lanky chick from Popeye. Olive oil dialed in at 2 grams saturated fat, a commanding 10 grams monounsaturated fat, and only 2 grams polyunsaturated fat per serving. Looks like we have our winner. This oil possesses the highest amount of monounsaturated fats among the oils and therefore is best for helping with testosterone levels.

Back to my side note from earlier. I like to blend 75 % olive oil and 25% canola oil in a oil dispenser because whats the sense of higher testosterone without improved erection quality.

Oh yeah, and one more thing. One of my biggest pet peeves. Extra Virgin Olive Oil doesn’t NOT have anything to do with fat content and/or calorie content. I repeat, Extra Virgin Olive Oil doesn’t NOT have anything to do with fat content and/or calorie content. Extra virgin refers to its taste. If I hear one more person referring to calorie restriction saying “but its extra virgin olive oil” I am going to lose my mind. Read the label you putz.

And dont just go and drink tons of olive oil thinking your testosterone levels will rise. Think moderation, too much oil will result in too many calories which will make you fat. More fat = More Estrogen = Lower Testosterone. So once again, think moderation and fit it into your diet plan and macro breakdown.

We all know that adequate healthy fat intake is required for optimal testosterone production. One of the most popular foods that men turn to for healthy fat intake is peanut butter. But with all the different brands, which is truly the most beneficial. Well the obvious starter is that you choose a Natural peanut butter. This still doesn’t narrow it down much, until now….

Monounsaturated fats are key to testosterone production. Therefore you want to choose the natural peanut butter with the highest amount of monounsaturated fat, and the lowest amount of polyunsaturated fat. Monounsaturated fats can help reduce bad cholesterol levels in your blood and lower your risk of heart disease and stroke. They also provide nutrients to help develop and maintain your body’s cells.

First we will start with Skippy Natural Peanut Butter. Well, cant really help you here since the information isnt listed on the label. I even called the company and spent 45 minutes asking multiple people about the mono/poly content. The result ? They didn’t know. -_- ok…..next

Jif Natural Peanut Butter was next on the list. They too do not have the mono/poly information on the label. So once again I made a call. This was a quick call and the nice woman got my my answer very quick. Per serving (2 Tbsp/32 grams) there was 4.5 grams of monounsaturated fat, and 8 grams of polyunsaturated fat.

Smuckers Natural Peanut Butter actually was one of very few that provided the mono/poly information. Saved me a call, thanks guys. But anyway, they dialed in the same as Jif. 4.5 grams monounsaturated and 8 grams polyunsaturated. This was an honest surprise to me. I figured the ratio would have been slightly better. This is the peanut butter that has to oil on top and you have to stir it. I don’t know, that process seemed more natural and a figured it would equate to better numbers. Never assume I guess.

Last on the list, and the WINNER. Smart Balance Natural Peanut Butter. This has been my peanut butter of choice for years now. My instincts are killer, I know. This peanut butter was well ahead of the rest in terms of numbers. Per serving it contained a whopping 12 grams of mono unsaturated fat, and only 1.5 grams of polyunsaturated fat. The winner by a long shot.

So there you have it. Don’t judge a book by its cover, and for the best peanut butter in terms of aiding testosterone production, choose Smart Balance Natural Peanut Butter.

We have always heard how important sleep is right ? We brush it off, take whatever we can get, and then drink a ton of coffee. Well considering that testosterone levels can be impacted by sleep, that mindset needs to change.

In a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, researchers compared the testosterone levels of 10 healthy young men after experiencing varying hours of sleep.

During the first week, the men slept for eight hours each night at home. This was followed by three nights of ten hour sleep. The testosterone levels of the participants was tested and noted.

The men were then given eight nights of 5-hour sleep in a sleep laboratory. The testosterone levels were checked at the conclusion of the eight day period.

The results showed a 10-15% decrease in testosterone levels after the eight night span of less sleep.

These results are very significant, especially in a world of diminishing sleep and relaxation. We have become the caffeine and 5-hour eergy society. Sleep less, stress more, and have more energy drinks. I know plenty of men who only get 5 hours of sleep. Imagine what negative effect this is having on thier lives and testosterone levels.

If you never feel like you get a good night sleep, you have to start making small changes to fix this. Lack of sleep will hurt your overall health, productivity levels, and can tank your testosterone levels.
